CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 8, 2012) – Matt Lofton and the No. 16 Strutmasters.com, Coulter Motorsports Chevrolet team head to Marne, M.I., this weekend for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz Group.

Tradition steeped Berlin Raceway has held ARCA events since 1958, when the facility was still a dirt track located at the local fairgrounds. While the facility still stands on the same ground, it is now paved into a unique design many competitors refer to as “quirky.” While the 0.4375-mile paved short track is almost a complete circle with no backstretch wall, fans flock to the area for some of the years best racing.

Lofton, in his first full season on the ARCA tour, has never visited the quaint facility located near Grand Rapids, M.I., but feels it fits right into his favorite niche of racing. The tight, side-by-side racing Berlin has shown in the past is no different than the grounds of Lofton’s early career- the short tracks littered amongst the Southeast. Lofton plans to rely heavily on his late model days at tracks like South Boston Speedway to help him quickly acclimate on Saturday.

While the facility will be holding its 25th ARCA event and has a storied tradition with the series, it also holds a special place with Lofton’s team, Coulter Motorsports. The team earned its first career ARCA Racing Series victory at Berlin Raceway in 2010, when driver Joey Coulter dominated the second half of the race en route to a commanding finish. Coulter Motorsports plans to prepare a car affectionately named “JJ” for the 200-lap event. “JJ” is a short track staple in the stable and last ran at the Illinois State Fairgrounds dirt mile, earning a fourth place finish.

Racing action from Berlin Raceway kicks off Saturday with practice from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying quickly follows suit at 5:00 p.m. and the green flag is set to wave over the Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz Group at 8:30 p.m. (All times Eastern.)
