Lola future secured by new deal

Rebellion Racing LolaLola’s immediate future in international sportscar racing has been safeguarded by a deal for a new group to take over engineering support and the supply of spares of the British constructor’s LMP1 and P2 prototypes.

As predicted by AUTOSPORT in October, Lola Group Holdings has agreed a licensing deal with Canadian Multimatic Motorsport, which has a long relationship with Lola, and the constructor’s long-time US distributor Carl Haas Auto.

The arrangement means that all spares for Lola’s respective B12/60 and B12/80 designs will be available to customers such as Rebellion Racing and HVM Status GP.

Lola owner Martin Birrane said: “The Lola brand continues and this agreement with Multimatic and Haas ensures that the legacy of Lola’s success on the track will endure.

“The close bond between Lola, Multimatic and Haas should lead to a beneficial result for all Lola teams”.

Multimatic has said that it will be able to build new cars and said it is investigating potential developments for the P1 and P2 designs.

The deal also covers all previous Lola sportscar and single-seater designs.

Lola Cars International went into administration in May with debts of approximately £20 million and ceased trading in October.

Its assets were subsequently bought by its parent company Lola Group Holdings, which retained the intellectual property to the company’s designs and its trademarks.
