Pagenaud leads Baltimore warm-up

Simon Pagenaud set the quickest time in IndyCar’s final warm-up session in Baltimore.

The Frenchman went to the top with a best lap of 1m22.4014s, leaving him just a scant 0.0075 seconds ahead of Scott Dixon.

The lead duo had an advantage of more than 0.5s over the rest of the pack, with Ryan Hunter-Reay coming closest to matching their times.

For the third day in succession the field was greeted by a slightly reconfigured circuit, with a tyre stack having been installed at the apex of the entry to the Turn 13 chicane, and the angle of the wall to the left of the chicane’s exit – a trouble spot during qualifying – having been widened.

The changes appear to have helped, as the session passed without the chicane claiming any additional scalps, although Ryan Briscoe managed to trigger a brief stoppage when he understeered into the tyres at Turn 8.
