Carroll to make GT1 World debut

Adam Carroll Auto GP Donington Park 2011Adam Carroll will make his FIA GT1 World Championship debut at this weekend’s Donington Park season finale with the WRT Audi team.

Carroll, 29, will partner Laurens Vanthoor in one of the Belgian team’s R8 LMS ultras as regular driver Stephane Ortelli is on French GT duty instead.

“I haven’t set any targets for the weekend,” Carroll said. “Stephane is a Le Mans winner so I’ve got pretty big boots to fill. I just want to so as professional a job as I can.”

Carroll has not had a full-time drive since helping Status GP-run Team Ireland to the A1GP title in 2008-09.

Since then he has made selected outings in IndyCar, Formula Renault 3.5, GP2 and Auto GP, winning the final race of the latter series last year.

This year his only race appearance came at the Silverstone Blancpain Endurance Series race, in which he drove a Vita4One BMW.
