Fontana maintains Hungary edge

Alex Fontana, Hungary 2012Alex Fontana continued his commanding form in Hungary to finish top of the second Formula 2 free practice session.

After heading the times in the morning session by only doing one short run, he opted for the same strategy in the afternoon.

Most of the field were running race simulations, rendering Fontana’s 0.8-second advantage a little flattering.

Having missed the morning session after a collision with Hector Hurst on his out-lap, Dino Zamparelli showed strongly to end second quickest, just ahead of Luciano Bacheta.

Matheo Tuscher in fourth place marked the start of a very tight midfield pack, with the following five cars separated by three tenths.

Mihai Marinescu and Markus Pommer were in fifth and sixth, while Axcil Jefferies again looked strong in seventh.

Christopher Zanella was eighth quickest, as David Zhu and Kevin Mirocha completed the top 10.
