Photo finish at Okayama
It all came down to about four inches or 0.003 of a second. That was the difference between first and second place after 50+ miles of racing action during the Red Sox Racing League’s 5th race of the 2012 Season One schedule. Twenty-two drivers participated in the “Kōraku-en 30 at Okayama” in Mimasaka, Okayama Japan, but two of them gave fans the best road course finish in RSR history. The tightly designed, 2.314 mile, eleven corner course at Okayama promised fans a delightful event, but race organizers couldn’t have predicted the incredible finish RSR drivers produced during the event. Quick Start Jumps Jarrell to Lead
Virginias Club sim racer Trey Jarrell started-off the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (NiCCS) in 2012 Season One with a boost of momentum. After hitting the ground running in Week One at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Jarrell followed-up with an overall weekly victory during the Week Two stop at the Richmond International Raceway. Baltimore race set to continue
The future of IndyCar's Baltimore street race appears to have been secured, with city officials having appointed a new promoter for the event. Last year's inaugural race was an enormous hit with drivers and fans, but the viability of the event was cast into doubt when it was revealed that the organiser had been struck by severe financial troubles. Report: Tesla to build electric Mercedes

Tesla and Daimler are set to collaborate on a new electric Mercedes-Benz. According to Gigaom.com, the fourth-quarter earnings report released by Tesla earlier this week revealed the company is set to supply a full powertrain for an unnamed electric Mercedes-Benz in the near future. Those components include a motor, transmission, inverter and all of the software necessary to keep the car whirring along. Funds from the deal are supposed to begin trickling in by the second quarter of this year, though no details about production timing or volume were available in the report.
The two automakers aren't strangers. Daimler is an investor in the small electric vehicle manufacturer, and Tesla already supplies battery packs for the low-production Smart ED. Mercedes-Benz made waves at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show when it unveiled the B-Class E-Cell Plus. At the time, the vehicle boasted a lithium-ion battery sourced from a joint venture between Daimler and Evonik, though it's certainly possible the German automaker has changed course on the five-door. Then again, the B-Class E-Cell Plus was an extended-range hybrid, whereas the Tesla earnings report seems to hint toward a full-electric model. Consider us curious.
